May is spending the day with her grandfather, Gong Gong, but she’s not exactly looking forward to it. Gong Gong doesn’t speak English, and she doesn’t speak Cantonese, so how is this going to work?! At first, it seems like Gong Gong is so busy chatting with local shopkeepers and introducing May to his friends that he isn’t actually paying attention to her wants and needs. But soon it becomes clear that he has been closely attuned to her the whole time, and that the two share a special bond that transcends language and generational barriers.
These two might not always understand each other, but they certainly speak the same love language.
