Music for your Baby Biblio’s Ears

Music Is...
Written by Brandon Stosuy & Illustrated by Amy Martin
Age Level: 0-3 Years

This book about music hits all the right notes.

I love this book for its racial and cultural diversity, simple yet informative text, and bold and bright illustrations. The book sparked my son’s curiosity and had him asking me “what does ‘acoustic’ mean?” and “what is ‘a capella’?”, while my daughter happily bounces along to the musical cadence of the prose.

“Music is for everyone

Music is for you.”

This hug of inclusivity is manifested all throughout the book. People have a range of skin tones, their hair is a variety of textures, and you’ll see a pair of female friends wearing hijabs.

Music is an incredibly difficult thing to define, to put into words, to break down into succinct yet accurate descriptions that even a very young child can understand. And yet this book succeeds beautifully and makes it seem effortless. It is a unique and worthy addition to your shelves.
