This book deserves a Michelin star.

November is obviously a very food focused month, and for years I’ve envisioned my dream Thanksgiving. It has nothing to do with turkey. It doesn’t even take place in America. My dream is to spend Thanksgiving in Tuscany and go truffle hunting. So all month long, I’ve been joyfully reaching for this book about a pup who breaks into the business.

“The smell is divine.
It is earthy and nutty
and musty and unique.
Better, even, than chocolate.”

Rosie is a poodle with an outstanding sense of smell. Her family lives in a pleasantly pungent forest and works in a deliciously fragrant shop selling chocolate truffles. Her life is lovely, but it isn’t enough for smart, industrious Rosie. Seeking more stimulation, Rosie runs away and finds the perfect job: she becomes a truffle hound. Swapping her family’s chocolate truffles for this precious earthy fungi is lucrative, but also proves to be lonely. In the sweet story that ensues, Rosie ends up searching for more than subterranean delicacies, and takes you on a quest for happiness.
