Never underestimate the little guy.

I’m shocked that this book hasn’t been optioned for an animated film. It has the goofy hilarity that will have your kids shaking with laughter, an adorably relatable boy hero, and an action-packed story arc. At a time when we need some levity, it’s a super fun read.

“Cole had always wished he could be an assistant knight to Sir Percival – his favorite knight of King Arthur’s Round Table.”

A young boy named Cole pursues his dream of becoming an assistant knight to Sir Percival. He learns everything about being a knight, including Sir Percival’s greatest fear, which is an attack by an Underwear Dragon. When that fear becomes reality, it falls to Cole to save the kingdom, which he does in a spectacularly humorous fashion.

Unlike most books that build on juvenile humor, this one is actually witty and the jokes serve to advance the plot. And it’s not all just superfluous comedy. The book also conveys empowering messages that even little people can accomplish big things, that they can be brave and clever even when adults fall short at both, and that they can achieve their goals with lots of hard work and a little gumption.
